Kangaroo Point

After seeing the wonderful shots already here, it is with a little trepidation that I add my abstraction of the Kangaroo Point flats to the collection. This shot was taken in December 2005. For some time I had it displayed as a horizontal shot. However, in the past couple of weeks I have changed my mind and decided to turn it 90 degrees left. As a tribute to this blog, I have also changed the border from white to black. I wish the members of Monochrome Brisbane much pleasure and success in capturing our city in glorious b&w.

Congratulations Arioso, on yet another wonderful example of how "ordinary" architecture can be made "extra-ordinary" by unusual framing and viewpoint. I think the rotation works very well as it highlights the diagonal banding of light that traverses the image from left to right. I have decided that the image reminds me of a set of rollers, serrated and paired, ready to wind in and crush the life out of an unsuspecting cane of sugar. (I hear the cheese breathing a sigh of relief!)

I have to concur with Martin' comments ... I marvel at the way artists can look at something really quite usual and create (with clever composition and control of light) a photo that challenges the viewer to see much more than "reality" ... congratulations on another great shot.
